Engineer are very discouraging and afford no indication of any
real progress being made with the work, the season has been
an exceptionally favourable one for cutdoor operations or
account of the small rainfall, as may be gathered from the
following figures:-

Work on the South side of the Konjcor
Range of Hills was begun early in Bay, the service noad to te
turned face and the sinking of a shett being first undertaken.
The latter work was begun on the 15th.
Practically, 4 scrths have elapsed since ther. The Service Road (about 14 miles Jone) is still in-
-complete and the shaft has beer sunk a depth of 64' 178 - an
average of about 64" per day.
The approact cutting to the South Fac-
of Tuonel was not begun until the middle of July wrap a
contract for it was reported to have been let (vide Report
21.7.06). Ca the 25th. August, it was reported that 'e new man'
had rede a start on the approach cutting. The work can only
be said to have bean begun and it is only in progress at cre point. Very few coolies were el work on the 10th. September.
